A few hours after the news of the Kelvin Gutierrez trade, Mike Elias added another player to the Orioles organization. This time, it was right-handed pitcher Shaun Anderson, and he was claimed off waivers, after being designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers.
The Orioles headed into this three-game series tied for the league’s worst record with the team they were set to face, the Minnesota Twins. Now, the O’s officially have the worst record in the majors.
Finally, the Orioles played someone in the A.L. East other than the Red Sox or Yankees. The Tampa Bay Rays came to town for a three-game set, their first three meetings this season.
After another week of play, the Orioles Triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides, drop their record to 3-9. In six games against the Charlotte Knights, affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Tides were able to come away with just one win and are still at the bottom of the Triple-A East Division.
