We have our third edition of Battery Breakdown, and this one focuses on the longest on-base streak by a Baltimore Orioles prospect this season.

Frederick Keys infielder Leandro Arias put together an impressive 25-game on-base streak that began on May 13 and ended on June 19. Let’s take a closer look at the streak and what it could mean for his future.

Arias’ offensive production played a significant role in helping the Keys capture the South Atlantic League Northern Division First-Half Championship, and it was fueled by this remarkable stretch.

During the 25-game streak, Arias slashed .322/.407/.456 with an .863 OPS. He collected 29 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs while drawing 12 walks and stealing five bases in five attempts. The 21-year-old has been one of Frederick’s hottest hitters this season.

Arias was highly regarded early in his professional career. When the Orioles signed him out of Santiago, Dominican Republic, he ranked No. 46 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 International Prospects list in 2022.

His professional debut in the Dominican Summer League was a modest one, as he hit .217 with a .650 OPS in 46 games. Despite the slow start, Arias finished the season ranked No. 25 in the Orioles’ prospect rankings, five spots ahead of a guy named Félix Bautista.

He took a step forward in 2023 with the Florida Complex League, batting .271 with a .784 OPS, which remains one of the strongest seasons of his career. Arias finished that year ranked No. 28 in the Orioles’ system.

Arias opened the 2024 season with Low-A Delmarva and, despite an early injury setback, advanced as high as High-A Aberdeen. He posted career-highs with 74 hits, 16 doubles and 49 RBIs. At one point, he climbed as high as No. 16 in the Orioles’ Top 30 prospect rankings.

The 2025 season brought some challenges, as Arias posted a career-low .588 OPS and hit just .219 while spending the entire season with Aberdeen. He recorded 56 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and 27 RBIs, causing his prospect stock to slip. He finished the year ranked No. 21 in the organization.

Now in 2026, Arias is currently unranked in many prospect lists, including The Baltimore Battery’s, but that may not remain the case for long. If he continues this torrid run, there is a strong case that he could work his way back onto those rankings following this year’s trade deadline.

At just 21 years old, Arias still has plenty of development ahead of him. He currently ranks fifth on the Keys in hits with 44 and is tied for the team-lead with 29 walks. His .388 on-base percentage is the highest of his career, while his .260 batting average is his second-best mark.

If his first-half performance is any indication, Arias could be poised for an even bigger second half in the South Atlantic League. Keep an eye out for this young man during the second half and as the Keys enter the postseason.
