The Baltimore Orioles, who are trying to claw their way into the postseason, will welcome the San Francisco Giants to town, a team who is playing spoiler and more for pride to wind down the 2024 campaign.
The Orioles, who are 3-7 in their last 10 games, are 42-33 at home, ironically the same exact record they have on the road. The Giants come to town riding a four-game losing streak and are 31-41 on the road for the season.
One of the strongest aspects of the second half for the Orioles has been their starting pitching. Against the Giants, the O’s will send some of their big-game performers to the mound.
The Birds will open the series with Albert Suárez (8-5, 3.39 ERA) on the mound. He will be followed by Dean Kremer (7-9, 4.10 ERA) and Zach Eflin (10-9, 3.55 ERA) to close the series out.
The Giants will start Blake Snell (3-3, 3.52 ERA), Hayden Birdsong (3-5, 4.74 ERA) and Logan Webb (12-10, 3.53 ERA) to round out the series.
As most fans have come to know, one area the Birds have heavily struggled in since the All-Star break is on the offensive side of the ball, which leads us into our BATTERY ❌-FACTOR.
BATTERY ❌-FACTOR
The Orioles’ second half has seen the offense struggle in many ways. The biggest culprit has been the ability to score runs on a consistent basis.
Over the Orioles’ last 87 innings, they have scored a combined 19 runs, equivalent to less than two runs a game.
The Giants will bring two of the better pitchers in all of the game to the mound this series in Snell and Webb, and the O’s must find a way to score and score often.
Not only will it help to secure a series win, but it will help build some momentum headed into the postseason.
GAME 1 STARTING LINEUP
Games one and two will have an estimated start time of 6:35 p.m. EST, with game three estimated to begin at 1:05 p.m. EST.
The series will be played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and if you are unable to attend the games, you can tune into MASN2. Game three is slated to be available on MASN, and you can also tune into your favorite Orioles Radio Network station for each game.
Will the Birds find a way to fly past the Giants, or will San Francisco continue to add to the offensive woes of the Birds? It all starts Tuesday night at The Yard.
