As season series come and go, the next for the Orioles will take place at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays for three games.

The Birds head into St. Petersburg following a disappointing series loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, one that wrapped up the season series between the O’s and Jays. Baltimore will hope to get back on track at The Trop, aided by a much stronger rotation than what was seen in Toronto.

Kicking off this series will be former Ray, Zach Eflin (7-7, 4.05 ERA), as he takes on Zack Littell (5-7, 4.06 ERA). The ace Corbin Burnes (12-4, 2.63 ERA) will highlight game two against a “to be determined” starter. Finally, game three will see Albert Suárez (5-4, 3.66 ERA), as he matches up against Jeffrey Springs (0-1, 6.23 ERA).

These two teams will look slightly different than the last time they faced off. As mentioned earlier, Eflin will now be slinging the rock for the Birds, while the Orioles pitching staff finally won’t have to deal with Randy Arozarena or Isaac Paredes any longer.

BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR

The Rays are always a tough fight, especially as a team that puts up the kind of at-bats they do. They see a lot of pitches and don’t typically strike out too often.

In order to achieve the BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR, the pitching staff must make the Rays perform out of their ordinary.

The starting rotation can not afford more quick outings that put strain on this bullpen. Making quick work of Tampa Bay’s offense and not allowing the O’s bats to have to play catch-up from inning one will be crucial.

The Rays may be scrappy at the plate, but their run production can be limited pretty well when the starting rotation controls each at-bat.

Game one of this AL East match-up will begin Friday evening at 6:50 p.m. EST on MASN2. Game two will be featured on FOX at 7:15 p.m. EST, with game three starting at 1:40 p.m. EST on MASN.
