Bowie once again has struggled in a series, as they lost four of the five games to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Bowie falls to a record of 6-13 and drops their third straight series on the year.
The Baysox once again had a major struggle on the offensive side, as they had a season-low .194 average and a .292 slugging percentage. The pitching staff also looked rough, having a 4.17 team ERA and 1.34 WHIP for the series. The Baysox also had a run differential of -14 with a total of 12-26.
There were only three players that really showed out in this series, with two being hitters and one being a pitcher. Let’s go over them.
CADE POVICH – RHP
Cade Povich had only one start, but it was a five-inning, one-hit, 10-strikeout masterpiece. Povich also got the only win of the series and moved to a 2-1 record with a 3.71 ERA in 17 innings pitched.
COBY MAYO – INF
Coby Mayo continues his season with a really solid run in this series. The slugging infielder had a .333 average with a 1.200 OPS in 15 at-bats.
Mayo had five total hits, four doubles, two runs, one RBI and four walks. The Florida native moves to a .265 average and a .883 OPS on the season. He also has seven doubles and seven RBIs this season.
HESTON KJERSTAD – OF/1B
Kjerstad continues to have good weeks, as he had a .313 average and a 1.075 OPS in this series. Kjerstad had five total hits, two runs, a triple, a home run, an RBI, two walks and was hit by a pitch twice.
Kjerstad continues his impressive 2023 season with a 1.084 OPS and a .284 average. He had 19 total hits.
The Baysox begin their next series on May 2 at home, as they play the Erie Seawolves. The series will begin on Tuesday at 11:05 a.m. EST, and it’s a very busy week for the Baysox with promotions. They have HBCU Night on Thursday, Glow in the Park on Friday and an Acton Business Fair on Sunday.
