The Bowie Baysox finished a series of five games against the Altoona Curve, and it was a tough series to play. Bowie lost four of the five games and has to play one game at a later date due to weather conditions on Saturday.
The Baysox really struggled in this series, as they had a run differential of 16-24 and left the series with an ERA of 4.54. The offense didn’t help any, as they had .208 average and a .696 OPS throughout the five games.
Nonetheless, three players stood out in this series, as they stayed hot throughout the entire series and really shut it down.
JENSEN ELLIOTT – RHP
The pitching MVP of the series goes to reliever Jensen Elliott. He had a really solid series in his 3.2 innings pitched, not giving up a single run and having two total strikeouts.
Elliott now continues a season where he has not allowed an earned run in four total games, 6.2 innings pitched.
ZACH WATSON – OF
The LSU product showed up big in this series, as he put together one of the best offensive showings since he was drafted.
Watson had a line of .400/.520/.600 with a 1.120 OPS for the series, collecting eight total hits, six singles, one double, one home run and six RBIs. He also had one stolen base in one attempt.
CÉSAR PRIETO – INF
I swear, César Prieto is not human at the plate.
Prieto put together another amazing series and earned his second hitting MVP for the Baysox. The Cuban native put together a .474/.524/.526 slash line with a 1.050 OPS in the five games.
The Orioles’ No. 17 prospect had nine total hits, four runs, eight singles, one double, two RBIs and walked twice. He also had his fourth three-hit game of the season.
We also needed to put this in the post. Outfielder Donta’ Williams made possibly one of the best catches we’ve ever seen.
The Baysox come back home to Prince George’s Stadium to play the Richmond Flying Squirrels, with first pitch of the first game at 11:05 a.m. EST on Tuesday, April 25. During the series, the Baysox will have events like Glow in the Park on April 28 and Meet the Team on April 30.
