The Delmarva Shorebirds wrapped up their away series against the Salem Red Sox in a very offensive fashion.
In games where the teams scored a combined 91 runs in six games, we couldn’t have asked for a better series.
With this offensive barrage, we got to see many 2022 draft prospects make Single-A debuts, and they did not disappoint.
The biggest offensive output came from infielder Frederick Bencosme, who continued his amazing season with an impeccable performance against Salem.
In five games, Bencosme batted .304/.333/.435 with a .768 OPS. He had seven hits in the series, while scoring five runs, and was responsible for seven RBIs.
Now, let’s talk about a 2022 draft pick who was outstanding in this series. Former University of Florida outfielder, Jud Fabian, made his Single-A debut this series, and he showed why he belonged.
Fabian batted .429/.538/.857 with a 1.395 OPS in the series against Salem. He had nine total hits, six of them being doubles and one being a home run. He had a total of four RBIs and eight runs scored.
He also had stellar defense in the outfield. Fabian is currently the O’s No. 25 prospect but is playing like he is the 25th prospect in all of baseball.
The final player we have is Creed Willems, who is currently a platoon catcher with top-30 prospect, Maikol Hernandez. But for this series, Creed stood out as possibly the best hitter for Delmarva.
In four games, Willems batted .417/.438/1.000 with a 1.438 OPS. He tallied five hits, two of them doubles, one a triple and one a home run.
After splitting this series 3-3 with Salem, Delmarva moves to 19-29 in the second half. They are currently 10.5 games back of first place Fredericksburg and go to 40-73 on the season.
Delmarva now heads back to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium for a series against the Lynchburg Hillcats. First game will be Tuesday August 23, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. EST.
