For the first time in 2022, the Orioles will play baseball at Camden Yards.
For the first time ever, baseball will be played with the new left field wall. The first opponent to also attempt to master the new left field will be the reigning N.L. Central Champions, the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Birds hope the offense will wake up now that the team has returned to Baltimore. In the last series, the O’s scored just four runs, and against a powerful Brewers team, runs will be needed.
Luckily for the O’s, the Brewers will be sending out the back end of their rotation, with their ace Corbin Burnes pitching game three. Games one and two will be started by Adrian Houser and Eric Lauer.
For the Orioles, Bruce Zimmermann will get the start. This is certainly a special one, as Zimmermann gets to begin the home season in the stadium he called home growing up as a resident of Baltimore County.
Following Zimmermann, we are likely to see a bullpen game in game two and/or game three, as the starter for both games is TBD. John Means could potentially pitch game three in a battle of team aces.
Ryan Mountcastle looks to continue his hot start, while Cedric Mullins hopes to get things going. This will be a tough-fought series, and the Oriole bats will need to come alive in this one.
The Baltimore Battery ❌-Factor for this series is the Oriole bullpen. If the Orioles find themselves in more close games, it will be up to the ‘pen arms, old and new, to enter this game and keep it in reach.
We will see more of Felix Bautista, whose promotion to this big league roster was much anticipated. Jorge López will also play a big part in these games, eating up innings in the process.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear who would be the closer if the situation arrives. Hopefully, we will find out in this set or get a hint of an idea.
