In another week of Minor League Baseball, the Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides, hosted a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. With a record of 3-9 entering this series, the Tides had a lot of ground to make up.
Throughout this series, the starting pitching wasn’t great. The starters allowed 18 runs, and recorded four losses in this series.
Spenser Watkins tossed the one quality effort in this series, leading to a win in the game six. Watkins went six innings, allowing no runs and no hits, while striking out four.
Ryan McKenna had himself a nice little series, going 3-11 in three games. This included a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth in game six, which led to a walk-off in the 11th.
Mason McCoy also put up some good numbers in this stretch of six games, hitting seven times in 24 attempts. He scored three runs but didn’t knock in any himself.
The rest of the offense kept up their early season struggles, as the Tides’ offense sits at a team .692 OPS.
Now at 4-14, the Tides didn’t make up any ground, as they stay at the bottom of their Triple-A East Division.
The Norfolk Tides face the Charlotte Knights for six games in their home stadium at Harbor Park starting Tuesday night. You can catch each game on MiLB.TV!
