The Aberdeen IronBirds finished another week of baseball, this time splitting a six-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades.
Now sitting at 8-4, the IronBirds stayed atop the High-A East Division with some impressive production from the O’s No. 2 overall prospect, Grayson Rodriguez, and company.
Much like the first series of the season, the starting rotation for the IronBirds was great. As mentioned above, Grayson Rodriguez notched five innings in his start, allowing just one run and striking out 11.
Kyle Brnovich tossed a quality game as well, allowing just one hit and one run over 5.2 innings of work in a game that turned into a loss for the IronBirds. Drew Rom added a decent four inning start, when he allowed two runs and struck out six. Garrett Stallings saw the mound twice, winning one and losing one. His second start was forgettable, when he allowed six runs on seven hits across 2.1 innings of work.
A couple names on offense came to play this series. Joseph Ortiz recorded five hits in this series, three coming in the first game. Zach Watson also showed out in his last five games, going 4-for-18, walking in three straight games, and stealing four bases in this series.
Adam Hall, however, still continued to struggle to start the season. This series saw Hall go 3-for-22 with 13 strikeouts.
Here are the final scores from this week’s games:
