The Orioles are set to see their division rivals, the New York Yankees, for the first time this spring. In a showdown of starting pitchers, who will be seeing each other again, John Means and Jordan Montgomery take the hill against each other this afternoon at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, FL.
This is the first time we get to see John Means following his electric second half of the season in 2020. Means pitched to a 5.09 ERA in nine starts, but his last four starts saw a huge drop in average against and a rise in strikeouts, which was a product of his increased fastball velocity.
Today’s lineup isn’t too much different from Monday’s, with a few changes. Mancini and Santander are back in, along with 2019 Gold Glove winner Yolmer Sánchez at second base. We get another look at Yusniel Díaz, who hit the first long ball of spring on Sunday, and boy did he hit it!
Here is the starting lineup for the Baltimore Orioles:
- Cedric Mullins CF
- Trey Mancini DH
- Anthony Santander RF
- Pedro Severino C
- Freddy Galvis SS
- Yusniel Díaz LF
- Stevie Wilkerson 1B
- Yolmer Sánchez 2B
- Ramón Urías 3B
Other pitchers scheduled to throw today are Cesar Valdez, Tanner Scott, Paul Fry, Cole Sulser, and Zach Muckenhirn.
You can catch today’s game on the Orioles flagship radio on 105.7 The Fan with first pitch at 1:05 p.m. EST!
