There are officially two months left in the regular season, and that includes the minor-league campaign as well.
With that in mind, July featured several prospects who dominated both at the plate and on the mound. Let’s take a look at our Prospects of the Month for July.
Small disclaimer: Several prospects earned promotions during the month, so some players appeared for multiple affiliates. Each player is listed under the affiliate where they spent the majority of July.
Triple-A Norfolk: Nestor German – RHP
The Norfolk Tides won just eight games in July, but Nestor German continued to look like a future ace Orioles fans have been waiting for.
German made five starts, posting a 2-2 record with a 1.59 ERA, which ranked third among International League pitchers. He threw 28.1 innings, allowing 20 hits, five earned runs and six walks while striking out 24.
In his first full season with Norfolk, German has continued to impress. Ranked as The Baltimore Battery’s No. 14 prospect, he owns a 3.90 ERA across 101.2 innings. His ERA ranks fourth in the International League, and he is one of only two pitchers in the league to surpass the 100-inning mark.
German also ranks third with 108 strikeouts and fifth with a .236 batting average against. If he continues this pace, he could be a strong September call-up candidate.
Double-A Chesapeake: Aron Estrada – 2B/OF
Aron Estrada has continued to showcase why he is one of the organization’s brightest young talents.
In July, Estrada slashed .341/.367/.516 with an .883 OPS across 21 games for Chesapeake. Estrada finished third in the Eastern League with 31 hits while adding seven doubles, three home runs and 18 RBIs.
Estrada is one of only four Eastern League players to eclipse the 100-hit mark this season while posting a .287/.324/.481 slash line and an .805 OPS. He has also collected 18 doubles, 16 home runs and 56 RBIs.
The Baltimore Battery’s No. 2 prospect has improved every season, and he continues to establish himself as a cornerstone of the Orioles’ future.
High-A Frederick: Caden Hunter – LHP
Splitting the month between Frederick and Chesapeake, Caden Hunter posted a 0.92 ERA over 19.2 innings.
He allowed just two earned runs, walked five batters and struck out 30, including a 10-strikeout performance in his Baysox debut, marking the second time this season he has reached double-digit strikeouts.
Although we currently rank him as the No. 18 prospect in the system, Hunter has emerged as one of the organization’s biggest pitching standouts.
Pitching across High-A and Double-A, he owns a remarkable 1.32 ERA in 75 innings, the lowest ERA among Orioles Top 30 prospects. He has surrendered only 11 earned runs while recording 112 strikeouts, second only to Joseph Dzierwa in the organization.
Low-A Delmarva: Christian Rodriguez – RHP
After missing the entire 2025 season, Christian Rodriguez has wasted no time reminding everyone why he is viewed as a promising pitching prospect.
Rodriguez made five starts in July, posting a 1.09 ERA across 24.2 innings. While pitching for Delmarva, he did not allow a single earned run over 19.2 innings. Overall, he surrendered just 19 hits, three earned runs and struck out 20 batters during the month.
Rodriguez has put together a strong season despite one area that still needs improvement. Across his time with Delmarva and Frederick, he owns a 2.71 ERA in 99.2 innings and has allowed 98 hits and 30 earned runs while walking just 29 batters and striking out 103.
Opposing hitters are batting .257 against him, but he has consistently worked out of trouble and limited damage. That will be something to monitor as he continues to develop.
Overall Prospect of the Month: Wehiwa Aloy – INF
The 2025 Golden Spikes Award winner continues to dominate minor-league pitching.
Splitting time between Frederick and Chesapeake, Aloy slashed .381/.454/.637 with a 1.091 OPS during July. He collected 32 hits, seven doubles, one triple and four home runs while driving in 18 and going a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.
Our No. 1 overall prospect continues to strengthen his case as one of the top young players in the all of the minors. Aloy leads all Orioles Top 30 prospects with 101 hits this season while carrying a .295 batting average and an .853 OPS. He has also hit 15 home runs, driven in 69 RBIs and stolen 13 bases.
If he continues producing at this level, Aloy will likely earn national Top 100 prospect recognition and projects as a cornerstone of the Orioles’ infield for years to come.
