The early-season narrative around the Baltimore Orioles might be shifting.

What looked like a shaky start for the Birds has turned into one of the American League’s hottest stretches, as Baltimore has now won two consecutive series and five of its last six games.

After suffering a series sweep from the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Orioles traveled to the South Side and decided that they wanted to bring out the brooms themselves.

Baltimore completed a three-game sweep of the White Sox, capped by a 5–3 win in which  Taylor Ward delivered one of the most impressive individual performances of the young season. Ward went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBIs in the series finale, continuing a torrid stretch that saw him pile up nine doubles in an eight-game span.

Gunnar Henderson continued to establish himself as the centerpiece of the offense, homering twice in the series and consistently delivering in key moments, including a go-ahead two-run shot in game two.

Trevor Rogers and Brandon Young each delivered standout performances on the mound in Chicago, while Cade Povich pitched a gem on his birthday Sunday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants.

After dropping the series opener against the Giants, Baltimore responded by taking control of the series behind a blend of power and depth at the bottom of the lineup. Henderson stayed red-hot, launching his sixth home run of the season, while Jeremiah Jackson finished a triple shy of the cycle with a homer and double in a 6–2 win.

Colton Cowser and Leody Taveras chipped in with multiple hits, while Coby Mayo added key RBIs, as the lineup continued to produce up and down the order.

Perhaps most impressive has been how the Orioles have sustained this run despite a growing list of injuries.

Adley Rutschman was placed on the injured list with ankle inflammation after hitting .294 to start the season. Ryan Mountcastle exited a game after breaking a bone in his left foot, while Tyler O’Neill and Zach Eflin have also been sidelined, the latter after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

And yet, the Orioles have stayed afloat. The pitching staff has pieced together effective outings through a mix of starters and bullpen arms, with relievers combining for multiple scoreless frames in the wins against San Francisco.

In a span of just over a week, Baltimore has gone from searching for answers to dictating games. If this stretch is any indication, the Orioles are not just surviving adversity — they are building an identity around it.

I wish I could have seen the last two games but in spite of being miles and miles from Baltimore and spending $150 for ESPN, they are blacking out the games for some strange and perplexing reason.
