We are less than one month away from pitchers and catcher reporting on February 11, and we have hit the final key date of the 2026 MLB offseason.
Thursday marked the opening of the international signing period, and the Baltimore Orioles’ scouting department worked hard to bring in 10 players, with five of them being in MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 international prospects.
Let’s discuss the 2026 international signing class.
Leading the class is 14th ranked prospect Jose Luis Acevedo, an infielder from the Dominican Republic who is 17 years old and was scouted by Michael Cruz. Acevedo stands at 6-foot-1 and is a contact and defensive first shortstop, as MLB Pipeline gave him a 60 rating in those categories. Acevedo received a franchise record $2.3 million signing bonus.
The second top 20 international prospect is Ariel Roque, who signed for $1.7 million. Roque is a 17-year-old Dominican outfielder who was scouted by Luis Noel. Roque is ranked 18th on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 list and is considered a contact speedster, as he has ratings of 55 in hit, run and fielding grades.
The third top 50 prospect is the only pitcher in this class in left-hander Andri Hidalgo, a 16-year-old Dominican who ranks 35th in MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 and signed for $600K after being scouted by Francisco Rosario. Hidalgo stands at 6-foot-4 and has a high overall rating of 60 in his fastball and slider.
The fourth top 50 prospect is Pedro Gomez, a 17-year-old Dominican outfielder who was scouted by Rafael Belen, signed for $1.25 million and was ranked 35th on MLB Pipeline’s Top 50 list. Gomez has a 55 rating in both his hitting and power scores by MLB Pipeline and is expected to climb through the minor leagues quickly.
The final Top 50 prospect is Gabriel Rosario, a 17-year-old Dominican outfielder who was scouted by Rafael Belen and signed for $1 million. Rosario ranks 41st on the top 50 list by MLB Pipeline. He is a power hitter through and through, as Pipeline has him at a 60 rating.
There were five other players who were not ranked that also signed with the Orioles.
Rafael Belen brought in a Jhostin Aybar, a 17-year-old shortstop from the Dominican Republic. Rilliani Familia brought in Joshddy Castillo, a 16-year-old outfielder from the Dominican Republic.
Venezuelan scouts Christian Casanova and Yfrain Linares brought in two 16-year-old catchers in Luis Dias and Ray Faria. Lastly, Luis Noel brought in Carlos Rubecindo, a 17-year-old outfielder from the Dominican Republic.
We welcome all of these wonderful prospects to the Orioles system and wish them nothing but the best of luck and health as we get ready for the 2026 season.
