For some, the holidays are a tough time and a difficult reminder from where one has come to where they are now.
For TurnAround, Inc., the organization has come face-to-face with many of these people; victims looking to bring a sense of normalcy back into their lives and to try and move forward from a time where life was difficult, hard and, at times, felt like there was nowhere to turn or go.
Incorporated in 1978, the organization was originally designed to serve survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence in the Baltimore County area, expanding to provide services to Baltimore in 1995.
Their mission is to educate, advocate for and empower all people impacted by intimate partner violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.
The Baltimore Orioles recently teamed up with TurnAround, Inc. to adopt families supported by the organization and spent the day wrapping Christmas gifts for them.
For families who have known the traumatic side of life, this is something that can bring joy and normalcy to an otherwise chaotic and uprooting situation.
When organizations such as TurnAround, Inc. and the Baltimore Orioles come together, it provides hope and healing to those who have had little in a time where not much was offered. The smallest gesture has the biggest reward, as it is a chance to offer a new beginning, a new life and an opportunity for healing.
With the holiday season in full effect, the spirit of giving provides more magic than ever before. But for TurnAround, Inc. and the people served, it provides an opportunity to heal, grow and move forward.
