We are just five days away from spring training, and the Baltimore Orioles are still active this offseason.
According to multiple reports, the Orioles have signed right-handed pitcher Dylan Coleman to a minor league deal.
Coleman was originally selected by the San Diego Padres in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He would be traded to the Kansas City Royals in August of 2020 and would debut on September 21 of the 2021 season, pitching in five games and holding a 1.42 ERA.
He would pitch in 68 games during the 2022 season, posting a 2.78 in 68 innings of work. He collected 71 strikeouts and only walked 37 batters.
Coleman’s 2023 season wouldn’t replicate the same success, as he compiled a 8.84 ERA in 23 games, including one start. He would pitch just one big league game during the 2024 season with the Houston Astros.
After a scare of injuries in 2024, the 28-year-old righty will compete for a bullpen spot this spring. Coleman does have minor league options left, so it’s likely that he will see most of his playing time with Triple-A Norfolk.
