We all love reunions in everything in life, and the Baltimore Orioles decided on a reunion of their own, signing utility man Terrin Vavra to a minor league deal with an invite to big league camp.

Originally drafted by the Colorado Rockies back in 2018 with a third-round pick, Vavra was a part of a August 2020 deal that sent him, Tyler Nevin and Mishael Deson to the Orioles for relief pitcher Mychal Givens.

Vavra made his MLB debut with the Orioles against the Cincinnati Reds on July 29, 2022, and collected his first big league hit just three days later against the Texas Rangers on August 1. Vavra played in 40 games in 2022, slashing .258/.340/.337 with a .677 OPS and posting 23 hits, two doubles, one triple and a home run on the last day of the season.

Vavra got some reps during the 2023 season, playing in 27 games. It ultimately wasn’t enough to keep him on the main roster. He was eventually placed on waivers in August of 2024 and was eventually picked up by the Seattle Mariners before being re-signed by the Orioles in September of that year.

Vavra, 27, being back on this minor league deal provides the organization even more depth for the upcoming season. The Menomonie, WI, native can play second, third and shortstop, along with all three outfield spots if called upon.

Welcome back to Birdland, Terrin Vavra!

O’s have more depth than the Mariana Trench. What we need is pitching at a major league level.
