The Baltimore Orioles have announced that Mark Fine will join the organization as chief marketing officer and Kamaal Jones as chief legal officer and general counsel.

“We are thrilled to have Mark and Kamaal join our organization as we continue to expand and elevate our front office,” said Catie Griggs, Orioles president of business operations. “Both Mark and Kamaal are proven leaders who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will provide our organization with tremendous guidance, innovative ideas and a passion for the opportunities ahead.”

Fine will lead the marketing, communications and creative content departments. He has spent his career building and expanding brands for some of the world’s most iconic sports and entertainment properties.

A native of Baltimore and American University graduate, Fine has many ties to Charm City and the Orioles franchise. He was a public relations intern during the 1999 and 2000 seasons and was the assistant to the official scorer at Cal Ripken Jr.’s final game in October 2001.

The Brooklyn Nets, Professional Bull Riders and National Lacrosse League’s Las Vegas Desert Dogs are just a few of the organizations Fine has worked for in his career.

Fine has also been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and Kingsborough Community College since 2010, where he has taught sports marketing strategy and principles of marketing, respectively.

“I am deeply honored to be joining the Orioles, a team that has always held a special place in my heart as a Baltimore native,” said Fine. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with one of the most passionate fan bases in sports, build on the Orioles’ rich legacy and create innovative, fan-first experiences that bring our community closer to the game we all love.”

On the other hand, Jones will lead all in-house legal and compliance operations for the club. He is a seasoned attorney and trusted business partner with extensive experience supporting senior executives and owners on a variety of sophisticated legal and business matters.

He joins the Orioles from Monumental Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics and operator of Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

Like Fine, Jones has Maryland ties, as he is a native of Silver Spring. He earned his BA from the University of Pittsburgh and JD from Harvard Law School.

“As a lifelong Marylander, I have vivid childhood memories of Orioles games at Memorial Stadium and the iconic Camden Yards,” said Jones. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to now join such a legendary organization. This is an exciting time for the team and its passionate fans, with terrific play on the field and a potentially transformative vision for Camden Yards and its Baltimore home.”
