Over the years of baseball, pitchers have been seen as being on the taller end of the scale.
It’s considered that pitcher’s average to be somewhere between 74 to 76 inches in height, which is around six feet, two inches to six feet, four inches. However, that doesn’t apply to Orioles No. 27 overall prospect, right-hander Keeler Morfe.

Morfe stands at 68 inches tall (five feet, eight inches) and is really starting to turn into a solid international prospect. The native of Caracas, Venezuela, was a part of the 2023 international class and has already spent time in Low-A Delmarva.
The 18-year-old debuted in the Dominican Summer League during the 2023 season, when he started the opening game and pitched two innings, walking two, striking out four and giving up an unearned run. He would finish the 2023 season with a 7.01 ERA in nine starts and 25.2 innings of work.
Morfe would start the 2024 season in the DSL and would pitch a lot better. In seven starts, he posted a 0.82 ERA in 22 innings on the mound, giving up 11 hits and two earned runs, walking eight batters and striking out 38. On August 5, Morfe would get the call-up to Delmarva.
The young righty would make his Low-A debut on August 10 against the Salem Red Sox. He would get a no-decision but struck out seven batters over three shutout innings.
Morfe would finish the season with a 6.75 ERA in 10.2 total innings and four starts. He would actually end the year with 11 total strikeouts, meaning that the seven he collected in his debut made up 63.6% of his total strikeouts in Low-A ball last season.
Despite the decline last year, Morfe is still very green and has plenty of time to develop moving forward. The kid is just 18 years old and won’t turn 19 until June of 2025. Keep an eye on him next season in A-ball, as we look for that gradual progression moving forward.
