Around the Nest – Season 3, Edition 2: Orioles’ “Pitch-In” to help those affected by recent hurricanes

The Baltimore Orioles have been active members in the Charm City community for quite some time.

With new ownership, they are branching out even more, especially with the national companies they are involved with.

Most of us saw the destruction that Hurricane Milton caused and how it affected towns and cities across the East Coast. People were left homeless, without power, had to deal with contaminated water and various other matters.

The Orioles have already pitched in to raise one million dollars, which they will match up to $250,000 for families and individuals in Sarasota and Manatee Counties in Florida.

Though they have already met their goal, they are still accepting donations through The Community Foundation. Even with the success of raising money, the Orioles weren’t stopping there.

The O’s are teaming up with MedStar, a trusted medical partner for the Birds, and the American Red Cross. They will be joining together for a Pitch-In Blood Drive to help communities affected by the recent hurricanes.

The blood drive will be held today, November 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST at The Warehouse at Camden Yards.

Those who participate will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of your choice through the American Red Cross. Also, anyone who donates will be entered for a chance to win $7,000.

The shaping of the new direction of the team includes an ownership group who is willing to step up, be a part of the public eye and include the fans in as much as possible.
