Last night was one for the books for The Baltimore Battery crew, as myself, Jason Benowitz and Justin Sutphin all got to attend the Jimmy’s Seafood Meet The Birds event with the man himself, Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser.
It’s no surprise that we are semi-in-love with Cowser, so getting to meet and interact with The Pasture inspiration himself was an incredible experience that we can not thank Jimmy’s enough for.
The event started off with a Q&A session with Cowser and Barstool’s Eric Arditti. We got to learn quite a lot about The Milkman, including his favorite superhero, who won the Lego-building competition (hint: not him!), who his team bestie is and whether he’d rather hit a home run or rob one. Turns out playing defense may just be his favorite.
During the Q&A, Cowser was asked what he thinks of all the cow attire and moo’s he receives. He took it upon himself to look over to our table and say, “I see my Pasture people over here!” We erupted in cheers, and he had the biggest smile on his face.
Jason and Bri (@adley_clutchman on X) getting recognition for planning such a cool experience for the O’s community was awesome to witness.
Following the Q&A, everyone got to go up one by one or in groups and meet Colton. He autographed a baseball for us, smiled for some pictures and had plenty of laughs. Yes, I was shaking like a leaf getting to hug him. Don’t judge me.
He took a liking to my Adley Rutschman shirt. So, a win for me.
While Justin was on stage with him, he asked if he knew what The Battery was. Colton replied, “The Baltimore Battery? Yes! I don’t do social media very often, but I thank you guys so much for supporting us.”

It was an extremely cool moment for us to see firsthand that the team can see us, and they recognize our unwavering love and support.
I had no doubt in my mind that Colton would be a nice guy, but I can genuinely say from the bottom of my heart that he is the nicest athlete I’ve ever met.
He was so sweet to each and every person there to see him. He reminded the staff multiple times that he was on no time crunch so he could take more questions and take more photos. The kids absolutely adored him, and he calmed everyone’s nerves (including my own) with such gentleness.
A man of so much talent on and off the field. A genuinely down to earth person who just wants to talk superheroes and Star Wars. That’s our No. 17.

Here’s to having a killer remainder of the season, Colton. And next time I run into you, I’ll remember how to speak. Promise.
