As usual, the Orioles and Nationals will have their Beltway Series. However, this year comes with a bit of a twist.
In game one of this series, both the O’s and Nats will wear their City Connect uniforms. Besides that, it’s the same old series, big brother vs. little brother, this time in a two-game set from our Nation’s Capital.
This time, the O’s send their best to the mound in Corbin Burnes (3-1, 2.61 ERA) and Kyle Bradish (0-0, 1.93 ERA). Opposing them for the Nationals will be Trevor Williams (3-0, 2.27 ERA) and Mitchell Parker (2-1, 2.53 ERA).
The Birds come in at 23-11 and have won seven of their last 10 games. The offense scored seven runs in four of those 10 games, including an 11-run effort in the win on Sunday in Cincinnati.
The bats will look to keep rolling in this series off the back of Adley Rutschman, who is hitting .345 with a .552 OPS in his last seven games. In the last series, whenever the offense needed a jump, it was Adley. In a series that will see a plethora of match-ups, considering it will be a mix of right and left-handed starters, look to Adley to nail down the top of the lineup once again.
However, our BATTERY ❌️-FACTOR goes the other way this series.

It’s all about the starting pitching in this series.
The O’s haven’t allowed more than two runs in seven games, and a large part of that is thanks to the phenomenal work of the starters. An Oriole starter hasn’t allowed a run while also pitching six innings in the last three starts, and it was the back end of the rotation that accomplished this.
With days off on both sides of this two game series, Burnes and Bradish picking up where the rest of this rotation has left off can have the entire pitching staff going into this next homestand at full strength. Not to mention, starts like that really do help the offense get rolling.
