The Aberdeen IronBirds have been on fire lately. Having not lost any of their previous seven series, Aberdeen was ready to take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
The IronBirds would take five of the six games against Bowling Green and are 0.5 games out of first place, as they improved to 16-7 in the second half of the season.
Let’s take a look at who stood out this series for the IronBirds.
DYLAN BEAVERS – OF
Dylan Beavers showed up big time in the Bowling Green series. Hitting .444 for the series, Beavers improved his slashline in June to .377/.470/.736.
The young outfielder’s best game came in Tuesday’s IronBirds’ victory. For the game, Beavers would go 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, hitting his ninth home run while collecting two RBIs.
For the season, the Orioles’ No. 10 prospect is now slashing .260/.355/.455 with nine home runs and 46 RBIs. He has collected 76 total hits across 79 games, including 24 doubles and three triples, while scoring 43 runs and stealing 18 bases.
ISAAC BELLONY – OF
Isaac Bellony continued his torrid July by going 6-for-13 for the series and would improve his July slashline to .348/.448/.565. Bellony would see his season average raise .024 points after the series.
In the IronBirds’ 3-1 victory Saturday, Bellony would collect two hits in three at-bats while also collecting a walk.
Bellony is now slashing .219/.287/.367 for the year. For the season, 47% of Bellony’s hits have gone for extra bases (14 doubles, four triples, three home runs), while he has driven in 25 runs and scored 17 himself.
CARSON CARTER – RHP
Another young pitcher finding his groove and showing off talent, Carson Carter would see his ERA drop 0.42 points after his appearances in the series.
On July 23, in Aberdeen’s 8-4 win, Carter would pitch two innings and would strike out five while allowing no hits or runs in his outing.
Carter has now pitched in 20 games this season, compiling a 2-3 record with three saves. His ERA stands at 4.74, and his WHIP is 1.26. Carter has pitched 24.2 innings with a 30 to 11 strikeout to walk rate, while opponents are hitting just .225 against him.
