The first half of the 2023 season has come to an end. An exciting weekend of All-Star festivities and the Amateur Player Draft concluded the first half with the Orioles at 54-35 and the third best record in baseball.
The second half is due to kick off tonight, and the Orioles will welcome the Miami Marlins to town for a three-game set from beautiful Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The Orioles are one of the surprise teams in baseball, and the Marlins are not too far behind. The Birds are currently on a five-game winning streak, while the Marlins have won 10 of 12 and are also 11-4 this season in American League ballparks.
The Orioles will send Dean Kremer (9-4), Kyle Gibson (9-6) and Kyle Bradish (5-4) to the mound for the series. Miami will counter with Sandy Alcantara (3-7), Braxton Garrett (5-2) and a pitcher to be determined.
BATTERY ❌-FACTOR
The Orioles entered the break on a five-game winning streak. During that winning streak, the Bird’s offense scored six or more runs in four of the five games.
It is for this reason that the Orioles’ offense is being dubbed the BATTERY ❌-FACTOR this series.
After having four days off, will the offense be able to continue its strong output and put up gaudy numbers? If it can continue to attack and capitalize on scoring opportunities, this offense should tip the scales in the Orioles’ favor.
Look for who’s been hot as of late; Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Austin Hays, Ryan O’Hearn, etc. to make an impact in this series.
