Finally, our Baltimore Orioles travel back to Camden Yards to begin a 10-game home stand. The first opponent of that home stand will be the Boston Red Sox.
This is the first meeting between these two clubs this season. Last year, the Orioles were good for a 6-13 record against the Red Sox, which included that three-game sweep to start the 2021 season.
Anytime the Orioles come home to play at Camden Yards, it is an exciting time. However, game one of this series is extremely exciting for another reason.
The Orioles’ No. 10 prospect, right-hander Kyle Bradish, has been called up and will make his Major League debut against the Red Sox tonight.
Bradish was the key piece returned to the Orioles in the Dylan Bundy trade with the Los Angeles Angels. This is also exciting, as it’s the first Mike Elias trade piece to make his way up to the majors. The promotions have begun!
Following Bradish will be two to-be-determined starters for games two and three. For the Red Sox, it will be Rich Hill in game one, followed by Nathan Eovaldi and Nick Pivetta in games two and three, respectively.
The Oriole offense, who has started to come around, has a tough test with three very good starting pitchers scheduled to throw in this series.
The Baltimore Battery’s ❌-Factor in this series is a single guy, and his name is Austin Hays. Hays has been the hottest hitter in the lineup alongside Anthony Santander, and Hays himself can help out the offense a ton in this series.
With the new wall, Hays’ love for hitting line drives down the third base line become even more dangerous. On the defensive side, he is able to cover the ground in the much larger left field. Look for Hays to carry the O’s in this series.
With the addition of Bradish to the big league club, the Orioles have optioned right-hander Mike Baumann to Triple-A Norfolk.
Additionally, left-hander Alexander Wells has been placed on the injured list with left elbow soreness. Infielder Tyler Nevin has been recalled from Norfolk, and he’s starting at third base tonight.
