It’s that time of year again, where peanuts and cracker jacks fill the vendor stands, and ballpark hotdogs fill the aroma of the stadium.
Baseball is back, and the Double-A Bowie Baysox will look to return to the playoffs after their impressive 2021 season.
Kyle Moore is set to lead Bowie into the 2022 season that opens April 8 against the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
Moore will make his Double-A managerial debut entering his fifth season in the Orioles organization. Spending last year with Aberdeen, the Orioles promoted Moore after Buck Britton was promoted to become manager of the Triple-A Norfolk Tides.
With added fan fare and excitement filling the air, the 2022 Opening Day roster has been set, and we are here to bring you up to date. This year’s Bowie club features six of the organization’s top-30 prospects.
Speaking of top prospects, Gunnar Henderson and Jordan Westburg headline this year’s Baysox team. All eyes focused on the future, these two will lead the way for at least the first portion of the season.
Henderson has been turning heads since he first came onto the scene, and it wasn’t long after Westburg made his presence known as well. While these two are hopefuls to walk the infield of Camden Yards, they will put their talent on display in Double-A to start 2022.
While fans will pile in to catch the future infielders putting on a show, pitching will be of interest as well.
Matt Vogel, Garrett Stallings, Zach Peek and Drew Rom will be some of the young arms set to keep the run of the “Gas Can Nights” a blaze.
Pitching will lead the way this year again for Bowie, as a variety of arms fill the stables. But there are some bats that should make their own statements as well.
