When it comes to Adley Rutschman, Oriole fans are no longer surprised with accolades; it just makes us anxious for his arrival and makes us anticipate what he will do for our team in the years to come.
That doesn’t mean his accomplishments don’t matter at the minor league level, as he seems to be making headlines on a regular basis. So, it will come as no surprise that Rutschman has won the Double-A Northeast Player of the Week honors, as he had another stellar week for Bowie.
Adley didn’t just run away with the title this week, he completely destroyed the chances of anyone receiving a chance to be mentioned. His staple this week was a July 21 game against Hartford, where he went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, two home runs, and seven RBI in the game, good for 10 total bases. He managed to raise his batting average to .275 after this game.
Over the last 10 days, Rutschman is hitting .324 and slugging .676, while also accumulating 24 total bases over that time. He has 11 RBI over his last 37 at-bats, with 12 hits, seven going for extra bases. He also picked up seven more walks to help build his on base percentage to .432 over that span.
For the year, Adley is batting .281, with a .518 slugging percentage and a .408 on base percentage. He has 103 hits, including 22 doubles, a triple, and 19 home runs to go with 74 RBI. His base on balls total to 71, showing the kind of plate discipline that is making him one of the most balanced and dangerous hitters in our system and throughout the league.
As we wait for his big league arrival, we can revel in the hardware that Rutschman is picking up along the way. A preview of what is to come, we can anxiously wait with excitement, as our most exciting prospect works his way to Baltimore.
