The Delmarva Shorebirds get yet another series victory, this time against the Lynchburg Hillcats and, well, the rain.
This series not only saw a Shorebirds series win, but it also saw three postponements and one suspended game that was completed the following night. Although it was cloudy skies in Lynchburg, there was sunshine for Delmarva.
The offense was led by Orioles Top-30 prospect, Darrell Hernaiz, who currently holds a 26-game hit streak. The 19-year-old infielder went 7-for-17 (.412), tallying four stolen bases in the process.
O’s No. 5 prospect, Gunnar Henderson, continued his incredible season by going 8-for-20 with a triple, a pair of doubles, and two RBI this past week. Surprisingly, this series saw Henderson not connect with a ball for a home run.
On the pitching side of things, there was one man who stood out more than any other, and that man is Noah Denoyer. The 23-year-old right-hander tossed five innings of scoreless ball in his weekly outing, striking out five and only giving up one hit. He improves his season ERA to 2.01.
The Shorebirds go 3-2 in this series, with one of the scheduled games postponed to June 30, as Delmarva improves to 23-11 on the season and proves once again why they are one of the best teams in all of Minor League Baseball. Delmarva heads back home to take on the Salem Red Sox beginning Tuesday night. You can catch every Shorebirds game on MiLB.TV!
