Bowie Baysox win yet another series, move to 25-9: Weekly Recap 6/8/21 – 6/13/21

The Bowie Baysox continue to be the best team at the Double-A level, taking four of six games from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies this past week.

The Baysox had a mix of great, run-scoring offense and solid starting pitching that ultimately won them this series on the road. The offense excelled in the runners in scoring position department, going 20-for-67 (.299).

The No. 2 overall prospect in all of baseball, Adley Rutschman, had another impressive week at the plate, going 8-for-27 (.296) and hitting his ninth and tenth home runs on the year.

Cadyn Grenier had himself a week offensively as well, going 11-for-23 (.478) with a pair of doubles and four RBI. And how about Johnny Rizer, who went 6-for-19 (.316) with three doubles and four RBI.

Bowie’s starting pitching was absolutely outstanding this week. As a collective, Baysox starters only gave up six runs the entire week, while striking out 40 batters as a group. That will definitely win you ball games.

D.L. Hall continues to dominate on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out 10. Grayson Rodriguez also had a solid outing, picking up the win with five innings of scoreless ball, while striking out six. Kevin Smith also pitched well enough to be promoted to Triple-A Norfolk. But it wasn’t just the rotation making noise.

Bowie left-handed reliever, Cameron Bishop, performed at an elite level out of the pen, earning himself Double-A Northeast League Pitcher of the Week honors. The 25-year-old threw nine innings of scoreless ball, striking out 12 in the process.

This team is so exciting and is a look at what the major league ball club could be in a few years. The Baysox are headed back home to take on the Akron RubberDucks starting Tuesday night. You can catch all of Bowie’s games on MiLB.TV!
