The Delmarva Shorebirds have announced their break camp roster as assigned by the Orioles. The roster features five Top-30 prospects, as well as four returning Shorebirds from the historic 2019 South Atlantic League Northern Division Champion first half title campaign.
The biggest bright spot of this roster is the infield, which contains four of the five Top-30 prospects on this team. Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg, Anthony Servideo, and Darell Hernaiz make up an infield that looks to be solid on both sides of the game.
The outfield features a few familiar faces, as names like Jean Carlos Encarnacion and Doran Turchin return to Delmarva after strong 2019 campaigns with the club. Hudson Haskin is the fifth member of the Top-30 prospects on this team, and he will get a lot of playing time in the outfield, after dominating in his time at Tulane, being named a 2019 freshman All-American and was on the 2020 Golden Spikes Award watchlist.
Two new catchers will get playing time behind home plate this season. Jordan Cannon, who split time between the GCL Orioles and the Aberdeen IronBirds in 2019, will share the catching duties with Ramon Rodriguez, who was signed as minor league free agent this off-season by the Orioles.
The Shorebirds pitching staff has two 2019 returners, along with members of the 2019 GCL Orioles and the IronBirds 2019 staff that posted the best ERA in the entire minor leagues. The two returners are 2017 19th round pick Adam Stauffer and 2018 8th round pick Ryan Conroy.
