The O’s look to sweep this brief two-game series against the Miami Marlins today, after an impressive 7-5 win in last night’s contest.
Although the victory was satisfying, there is real concern for Anthony Santander, who had to come out of the game in the first after twisting his ankle awkwardly sliding back into first base. O’s manager Brandon Hyde said X-rays on Santander’s ankle came back negative and didn’t show a fracture.
After an MRI was taken, it confirmed that Santander did not fracture anything in his ankle, but he did have a significant sprain that will cost him two to four weeks on the Injured List. Ryan McKenna has been recalled from the Alternate Training Site at Double-A Bowie.
As for today’s game, the O’s will send maybe their most consistent starter thus far to the mound, Bruce Zimmermann. The Marlins will send a young lefty of their own, Trevor Rogers.
