The Orioles are 1-0 to start the 2021 season, as they defeated the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day by a score of 3-0. They look to keep the streak going in game two this afternoon.
John Means had quite possibly the best Orioles Opening Day start in history, going seven scoreless innings, giving just one hit with five strikeouts and zero walks. Tanner Scott followed with a scoreless eighth, and César Valdez closed it out with a scoreless ninth in his first Opening Day game.
Ryan Mountcastle would give the O’s their first runs of the season with a two-run double off the Green Monster, while Anthony Santander would single to bring in the third run.
Today, “The Dark Knight” Matt Harvey will make his Orioles debut, making the game two start. The Red Sox will send rookie right-hander Tanner Houck.
