Orioles vs. Rays: Lineups & Notes 3/29/21

We’ve made it, Birdland! The last day of Grapefruit League play is today, as the Orioles play the Tampa Bay Rays for their last game of spring training from beautiful Ed Smith Stadium.

In yesterday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, it was really a quiet game for both teams. The O’s only run came via a sac fly from Austin Wynns.

Matt Harvey pitched fairly well in his final appearance of the spring, as he went five innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three.

Maryland native Bruce Zimmermann will take the mound of the final game of spring, looking to get ready for his start against the Red Sox in game three. The Rays will send a lefty of their own in 41-year-old Rich Hill.

In other news, Félix Hernández has opted out of his contract with the O’s and will officially become a free agent. Hernández hasn’t pitched since March 16 due to elbow discomfort.

Today’s game is unfortunately not available on TV or radio broadcasts, but you can follow along with every pitch on MLB Gameday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EST., and the game will be seven innings.
