The O’s are on a three-game winning streak and are looking to keep it going this afternoon against the Minnesota Twins at beautiful Ed Smith Stadium in sunny Sarasota, FL.
In last night’s win against the New York Yankees, the Birds only needed two runs to take the victory. Pat Valaika had an impressive night, as he went 2-for-2 with a solo home run, a double, and a walk. Ramón Urías would score the other run via an RBI groundout.
Matt Harvey pitched very well for the second straight outing, throwing four innings of one-run ball, while tallying two strikeouts in the process. Orioles pitchers would hold the Bronx Bombers to just three hits, thanks to impressive outings from Rule 5 picks, Mac Sceroler and Tyler Wells, and Dillon Tate.
Today, another O’s pitcher having an impressive spring will take the mound; that man is Jorge López. So far this spring, López has struck out 11 batters in just as many innings, pitching to a very nice 2.45 ERA. The Twins will send J.A. Happ to start just his second game of the spring.
