The New York Yankees are coming to town, looking to continue their win streak against the Orioles. With the Rays comfortably ahead of the Yankees in the AL East with a lead of five games, the Orioles certainly would pick a good time to end that losing streak today in game one of this doubleheader.
On the mound for the Birds is Thomas Eshelman. Kind of an unsung hero for the Orioles thus far in the time he’s been with the team, Eshelman hopes to continue his solid season with a start against a very dangerous offense. At 3-0 with a 3.48 ERA, Eshelman has his work cut out for him.
Ryan Mountcastle will sit out game one of this doubleheader, while recently recalled DJ Stewart will start in left field. Mountcastle has been great to say the least so far this season, hitting a solid .341 in 41 at-bats. Even more impressive is his .937 OPS, proving his ability to hit the ball for power almost anywhere will be missed in a matchup against a lineup like the Yankees.
Here is tonight’s starting lineup for game one against the Yankees:
1. Cedric Mullins (S) CF
2. Anthony Santander (S) RF
3. José Iglesias (R) DH
4. Renato Núñez (R) 1B
5. Chance Sisco (L) C
6. Hanser Alberto (R) 2B
7. DJ Stewart (L) LF
8. Rio Ruiz (L) 3B
9. Andrew Velazquez (S) SS
Thomas Eshelman RHP
