Orioles lineup vs. Mets: Tuesday, 9/1/2020

Despite the fact that they possess a worse overall record, the New York Metropolitans (15-20) come to Baltimore (15-19) tonight with their sights set on making the playoffs.

In fact, over the past 72 hours, both teams have been quite active in the trade market (which officially closed yesterday, August 31st, at 4 p.m..

The Orioles dealt three established big leaguers in exchange for prospects, and the Mets did the exact opposite, acquiring three proven commodities, including the O’s Miguel Castro.

Castro joins Todd Frazier and Robinson Chirinos as new members of tonight’s opposition, who look to add some much needed stability to a lineup that’s been lacking firepower (the Mets rank 20th in the runs per game and are batting a paltry .217 with RISP). Unfortunately, Frazier and Chirinos haven’t been stable hitters since Watergate.

Did the Mets ever receive that news bulletin that went out in 1647 about two washed up hitters and a good reliever not making much of a difference in the pennant run?

Perhaps, quite fittingly, another Mets Miracle will begin in Baltimore tonight, but I think the Dodgers are actually already printing World Series tickets.

Without further ado, here is your Baltimore Orioles lineup!

1. Cedric Mullins (S) CF

2. Anthony Santander (S) RF

3. José Iglesias (R) SS

4. Renato Núñez (R) 1B

5. Chance Sisco (L) C

6. Ryan Mountcastle (R) LF

7. Rio Ruiz (L) 3B

8. Pat Valaika (R) 2B

9. Andrew Velazquez (S) SS

SP: Asher Wojciechowski (RHP)

You can catch tonight’s game at 7:35 p.m. EST on MASN2 or on the radio at 105.7 The Fan!

Hack Wilson had 191 RBI in 1930. For decades, it was 190, and then they found one more. It wasn't officially added to the record books until 1999, a half century after Hack passed away. I think if I were Hack Wilson, I would have refused that RBI, because 190 just sounds better.
