The Orioles dealt three established big leaguers in exchange for prospects, and the Mets did the exact opposite, acquiring three proven commodities, including the O’s Miguel Castro.
Castro joins Todd Frazier and Robinson Chirinos as new members of tonight’s opposition, who look to add some much needed stability to a lineup that’s been lacking firepower (the Mets rank 20th in the runs per game and are batting a paltry .217 with RISP). Unfortunately, Frazier and Chirinos haven’t been stable hitters since Watergate.
Did the Mets ever receive that news bulletin that went out in 1647 about two washed up hitters and a good reliever not making much of a difference in the pennant run?
