Coming in at number 21 on The Baltimore Battery’s top 30 prospect countdown is 22 year-old 2B/SS Cadyn Grenier. Formally a 21st round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals back in 2015, Grenier elected to go to college at Oregon State. Grenier was later drafted by the Orioles in 2018.

In 43 games with the Delmarva Shorebirds after being drafted, Cadyn Grenier quickly saw he had work to do at the plate. Grenier hit for just .216, while striking out 53 times.
2019 saw Cadyn Grenier starting the season with the Frederick Keys. In 24 games there, Grenier drew 11 walks and had 16 hits in those two dozen games.
After being called back up to Delmarva, Cadyn Grenier saw more success in his last 82 games of 2019. He hit for .253, but that number doesn’t account for his 28 extra base hits and 39 RBIs. Impressively, Grenier held a .759 OPS, fueled by his 48 walks.
Defensively, Cadyn Grenier is another solid utility guy. Grenier can play either second base or short stop, and has a good arm accompanied with vital infielder instincts. Grenier’s minor league average in fielding percentage is around .950.
A progressively improving bat along with defensive mastery, Cadyn Grenier seems to be a solid tool for the Orioles in the near future.
