The Baltimore Orioles have claimed right-handed pitcher Cole Sulser off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays.
Sulser, 29, pitched in just seven games with the Rays this season, tossing 7.1 innings of relief. He collected nine strikeouts and gave up no runs, pitching to a 0.00 ERA and a WHIP of 1.09.
Sulser was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 25th round of the 2013 MLB Draft from Dartmouth College.
This is an odd, yet interesting move by Mike Elias. We all know that the bullpen was the biggest struggle for the Orioles this season. Sulser gives the team some stability heading into 2020 until some of the younger talent like Hunter Harvey and Tanner Scott fully develop.
