The Baltimore Orioles continue to build pitching depth ahead of Opening Day, signing right-hander Elvis Peguero to a two-year minor-league deal.
Peguero, 29, brings a mix of major league experience and recent inconsistency. Across parts of four MLB seasons, he owns a 4.26 ERA over 141.2 innings, with a 7.69 K/9 and solid ground-ball tendencies (54.3%).
His most recent big-league action in 2025, however, was uneven. Peguero posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.93 WHIP across 9.1 innings split between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox, allowing 12 hits and issuing six walks while striking out eight.
Peguero’s prior success came as recently as 2024, when he emerged as a reliable bullpen arm in Milwaukee. He logged a 2.98 ERA over 52 appearances that season, limiting opponents to 17 earned runs in 51.1 innings. That version of Peguero — pounding the zone and inducing ground balls — is likely what Baltimore hopes to rediscover.
While the move will likely not generate headlines, it reflects the organization’s continued focus on the low-risk, high-reward bullpen additions Birdland has grown accustomed to the past few years. At minimum, he provides Triple-A insurance. At best, he becomes another under-the-radar bullpen contributor for a club with deep postseason aspirations.
