As Opening Day approaches, one final showcase remains: the Spring Breakout game.

The Baltimore Orioles’ top prospects will face the Boston Red Sox’s rising talent on Friday night, offering a glimpse into the organization’s future.

Here is a closer look at Baltimore’s roster for this year’s showcase.

PITCHERS

The Orioles’ staff is headlined by No. 5 prospect, right-hander Trey Gibson, who posted a 4.26 ERA in 2025 while reaching Triple-A and earning Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors.

He is joined by fellow top 30 arms in right-hander Nestor German (No. 12), left-hander Josepth Dzierwa (No. 14) and right-hander Tyson Neighbors (No. 17), the latter of whom was named to the All-MiLB Second Team.

Three unranked pitchers round out the group. Micah Ashman impressed last season with a 2.35 ERA across 57.1 innings, holding opponents to a .174 average. Maryland native Zane Barnhart endured a step back (3.83 ERA in 39 games) after a strong 2024 campaign. Lastly, Chandler Marsh, acquired in the Cedric Mullins trade, allowed just two earned runs over 10 innings with High-A Aberdeen.

CATCHERS

The catching corps features a mix of ranked talent and emerging depth.

Last year, No. 26 prospect Ethan Anderson posted a .677 OPS in 90 games but flashed speed (15 steals) and gap power (14 doubles). Creed Willems (No. 19) delivered his third straight season with at least 15 home runs and set a career-high with 96 hits. And Colin Tuft adds another athletic element, swiping 26 bases in 34 attempts.

INFIELDERS

This year’s infield group is both young and top-prospect-heavy.

First-round pick Ike Irish (No. 6) drove in 12 runs in just 20 games, despite a .593 OPS. Aron Estrada (No. 9) enjoyed a breakout year, tallying 112 hits, 10 home runs and 53 RBIs. Alongside him, No. 7 prospect Wehiwa Aloy impressed in a brief stint at Low-A Delmarva, hitting .288 in 20 games.

Additional top 30 infielders include Wilfri De La Cruz (No. 23), who posted a .465 on-base percentage last season; Colin Yeaman (No. 30), who showed plate discipline with 10 walks in 17 games; and Griff O’Ferrall (No. 29), who recorded 102 hits and 16 doubles.

Unranked players Cobb Hightower (acquired in the Ryan O’Hearn trade), Jose Pena (11 doubles, 23 RBIs in the DSL) and Jaiden Lo Rae (2025 fifth-round pick) provide further depth.

OUTFIELDERS

The outfield may be the strongest unit on the roster.

Top 100 prospect Nate George leads the way after hitting .337 with 50 stolen bases, earning Brooks Robinson Minor League Hitter of the Year honors last year. Enrique Bradfield Jr. (No. 10) battled injuries in 2025 but still stole 36 bases. And Jordan Sanchez (No. 18), the reigning FCL MVP, added 16 doubles, while Thomas Sosa (No. 20) collected 42 RBIs in just 68 games.

The unranked group is equally intriguing. Vance Honeycutt, a 2024 first-round pick, has shown his plus power with four home runs this spring. Speedster RJ Austin stole nine bases in 18 games last season, DJ Layton combined 10 steals with 25 walks in 40 games and Reed Trimble — protected on the 40-man roster prior to the Rule 5 Draft — posted an .828 OPS with a career-high 17 home runs.

The 2026 Spring Breakout roster is loaded with high-upside talent, offering a snapshot of the Orioles’ next wave. First pitch is scheduled for Friday, March 20 at 6:05 p.m. EST.
