It is the season of giving and making sure others feel cared for. And while it should be a year-round task, it tends to stand out more this time of year.
One group of people who especially deserve our thanks are our veterans and military personnel. The brave men and women who serve our country, and even those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms.
This past Tuesday, the Orioles Orange and Black Gives Back initiative and The Brick & Whistle Food Company came together to host a Giving Tuesday event at The Baltimore Station.
The Baltimore Station is a therapeutic residential treatment and transitional housing program that helps veterans overcome obstacles and regain self-sufficiency.
The Giving Tuesday event provided veterans with home-cooked meals prepared by Oriole Park chefs and Orioles-themed winter hats.
Employees from both the Orange and Black Gives Back initiative and The Brick & Whistle Food Company also spent time with the veterans, completing various activities and service projects.
On top of the event at The Baltimore Station, the Orioles will be holding an online auction that will run through 10 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 7. Fans can bid on items like pre-game batting practice experiences and more, with all proceeds going to The Baltimore Station.
