It is still early in the offseason, but the Baltimore Orioles are active in signing depth pieces for the 2026 season.

According to multiple industry sources, the Orioles have signed right-hander Richard Guasch to a minor league deal, with an invite to spring training.

Originally signed by the Oakland Athletics in July of 2018, Guasch spent his first full season in 2019, when he split time between Low-A and High-A and pitched to a 4.24 ERA in 63.2 innings of work, striking out 82 batters.

Guasch pitched half a season in the A’s system in 2021 before he was a part of a trade that included sending Yan Gomes and Josh Harrison from the Washington Nationals to the Athletics. Guasch finished the season in High-A, where he posted a 3.15 ERA in 20 innings.

The Cuban native spent the next three seasons (2022-2024) in the Nationals’ farm system, reaching as high as Double-A Harrisburg. His best season would be in 2023, when he pitched in 14 games, had an ERA of 3.06 and struck out 22 batters.

Last season, Guasch played for the Erie Tigers, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. The now-27-year-old pitched in 28 games, posted a career-low 2.74 ERA in 46 innings and struck out 57 batters. He also held opponents to a .168 batting average.

Guasch also played in the Mexican League this year, where he pitched to a 1.93 ERA and compiled 25 strikeouts to three walks in 14 innings of work.

This is yet another low-risk, high-reward signing from O’s president of baseball operations and acting-GM Mike Elias, who keeps adding much-needed depth for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
