Baseball might still be in session, but the Florida Complex League has come to an end, and the Baltimore Orioles organizational staff and players took home some hardware.
Two top 30 prospects and one unranked prospect earned honors for their efforts during the 2025 FCL season, including one earning quite the prestigious award.
Before we begin, we want to send congratulations to FCL Orioles skipper Christian Frias for taking home the 2025 FCL Manager of the Year honor. Frias led his club to a 35-24 record, good for second place in the FCL South Division.
Without further ado, let’s get into it.
All Star: Andrew Tess – C
To start us off, we have the newly-named All-Star catcher in Andrew Tess. The former 12th-round pick back in 2024 had an encouraging season with the FCL Orioles.
The 19-year-old slashed .256/.457/.368 with an FCL catcher-leading .825 OPS. The young backstop collected 34 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs and 27 RBIs with the FCL Orioles this year. Tess also led all catchers with 17 stolen bases and 34 walks.
The St. Petersburg native has been spending the second half of his 2025 campaign with the Low-A Delmarva Shorebirds after being called up on July 29. In 11 games, Tess has seven hits to his name.
All Star: Esteban Mejia – RHP
The Orioles’ No. 8 overall prospect, Esteban Mejia, was named an FCL All-Star, and it is without question deserved.
In 11 FCL starts, Mejia posted a 2.43 ERA, which would have finished third if he was a qualified pitcher. The 18-year-old flamethrowing righty did finish second in strikeouts with 53, having just two behind Miami Marlins prospect Nate Payne. His 53 strikeouts were also more than any qualified pitcher.
Mejia was moved to the developmental list with Delmarva after hitting his innings limit this season. In three games pitched with the Shorebirds, gave up six earned runs in just under 12 innings of work, striking out 14 and walking six.
All-Star/MVP: Jordan Sanchez – OF
Jordan Sanchez is going to be a star in the near future with the way he has been playing this season.
Sanchez, 19, was named the Florida Complex League Most Valuable Player for the 2025 season. This is his second straight year earning honors at the rookie ball level, as last year he was named to the Dominican Summer League All-Star team.
The Cuban native put together a slash line of .293/.421/.529 and had an FCL-leading .950 OPS. The O’s No. 27 overall prospect collected 46 total hits, 16 doubles, three triples and five home runs while also driving in an FCL-leading 45 RBIs.
All of us at The Baltimore Battery want to congratulate all of the Orioles’ FCL honorees on their accomplishments this season.
