According to multiple reports, the Baltimore Orioles have claimed two players off waivers on Sunday afternoon.

The first player acquired is utility man Vidal Bruján from the Chicago Cubs, a 27-year-old switch-hitter from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.

Bruján has spent time with both Florida organizations in the Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins, as well as the Cubs this season.

In a short sample of 36 games with the North Siders this year, Bruján has a slash line of .222/.234/.289 with an .523 OPS. In 45 at-bats, he has collected 10 hits, three of them being doubles, with three RBIs and two stolen bases.

Bruján is out of minor league options, so he will be added to the O’s 26-man roster prior to the start of their three-game series in Philadelphia against the Phillies.

The other player acquired is Carson Ragsdale, a right-handed pitcher out of the San Francisco Giants organization.

Ragsdale, 27, was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies out of the University of South Florida. He has yet to make his major league debut.

In 18 games (14 starts) at the Triple-A level this season, Ragsdale has compiled a 5-5 record with an ERA of 5.37 and WHIP of 1.52. The Wesley Chapel, Florida, native has struck 58 and walked 38 in 65.1 innings of work.

The 6-foot-8 righty entered the season ranked 20th among Giants prospects via Baseball America and 13th via FanGraphs.

These acquisitions come a day after the Birds claimed first baseman and corner outfielder Ryan Noda off waivers from the Chicago White Sox.

The Orioles’ 40-man roster currently has 37 players.

  1. This is what it has come to … Brujan and Ragswho?

Six years of drinking the Tank Elias kool-aid … repeatedly hearing how throwing away year after year would pay off some day …. say like 2025. It was always 2025.

News flash … it’s 2025 and our GM has given up … again. What date/year is he telling us to wait for this time?

This is on management … these players deserve a managment team than to have a leader the constantly gives up.

They might as well claim me, I’m just as good and would play for free. I feel bad for the fans, this is ridiculous.
