Another week of Minor League Baseball is in the books, which means we’re back at it with another edition of O’s Prospects of the Week.

We saw games get canceled by weather, and some prospects show that they are ready for the next level when the front office figures out a place for them.

Birdland was also treated to the return of Kyle Bradish on a mound, as he made his first rehab assignment with Aberdeen. He and Tyler Wells are both slated to take the ball for Chesapeake this week.

With that said, here are your O’s Prospects of the Week for the final full week of the month of July.

Triple-A Norfolk: Samuel Basallo – C / Thaddeus Ward – RHP

Taking the mound for two games this week, Thaddeus Ward did not disappoint, as he covered 10.1 innings of work, allowing a combined seven hits and one run.

What throws off an otherwise strong week that saw Ward strike out eight batters was the fact he also walked nine. While he was able to prevent the free passes from hurting him, control is something that will have to be improved.

For the year, Ward is 7-6 through 21 games (20 starts), covering 93 innings of work. He has compiled a 5.90 ERA and a 1.81 WHIP while striking out 100 batters.

Since the beginning of June, Ward has lowered his ERA nearly a full run, going 4-2 in that time frame while striking out 48 batters across 44 innings.

Yes, Samuel Basallo does make this week’s offensive player after playing only two games.

In his first game back from oblique discomfort, Basallo would go off, as he collected five hits in five plate appearances. Totaling 10 bases, the organization’s top prospect cranked out two doubles and a home run, scoring twice and collecting two RBIs.

Basallo would end the week going 6-for-10 to extend what is an impressive July. For the month, the 20-year-old is slashing .350/.413/.775/1.188.

Through 10 games this month, MLB Pipleline’s No. 9 overall prospect has hit four home runs and five doubles while driving in 13, scoring six runs and walking four times.

Basallo currently has an eight-game on-base streak while hitting three long balls over his last five games.

Double-A Chesapeake: Reed Trimble – OF / Nestor German – RHP

In a series with the Altoona Curve, Reed Trimble really showed out with his bat.

The 25-year-old outfielder compiled six hits in five games this past week, slapping two doubles and knocking in five RBIs.

Trimble has been struggling this season with the Baysox . He currently has a .748 OPS and has 40 hits total hits, nine home runs and 26 RBIs on the year. He has shown off his speed, however, going 10-for-10 in stolen bases.

As for the pitching side of things, Nestor German did what he does best, tossing quality six innings, giving up two earned runs, walking just one batter and striking out 10.

German currently has a 4.12 ERA in 18 games between Double-A Chesapeake and High-A Aberdeen. He has held opponents to a .233 batting average, walked just 30 batters and struck out 97 in 83 innings of work.

The 23-year-old righty has already surpassed his innings total from last season (73.2 in 2024 / 83 and counting in 2025) and has only given up eight home runs on the year.

High-A Aberdeen: Anderson De Los Santos – INF / Juan Rojas – LHP

The IronBirds had their week cut short to just five games due to weather.

However, there was plenty of offense on display, but none more than what came off the bat of 21-year-old Anderson De Los Santos.

De Los Santos takes home this week’s honor with a six-hit series in 23 at-bats, including two doubles and five RBIs. He logged two multi-hit games and recorded at least one RBI in four out of five games played.

On the mound, every arm had big shoes to fill to match up with Kyle Bradish’s first rehab start. However, the start just ahead of Bradish’s was made by 21-year-old Juan Rojas.

A repeat for this honor, Rojas tossed the best outing of his season so far and his second scoreless in a row. He lasted five innings this time around, allowing just three hits and no runs, accompanied by four strikeouts.

This outing past outing was the 21-year-old left-hander’s third win on the mound, with all three of his victories coming since June 3.

Low-A Delmarva: Luis Almeyda – INF / Michael Caldon – RHP

Luis Almeyda was on fire offensively this past week for the Shorebirds, collecting five hits, two doubles and two RBIs against the Lynchburg Hillcats.

Almeyda has improved tremendously from his 2024 season. The 19-year-old has a .239/.321/.368 slash line with a .689 OPS in 49 games between the FCL and Delmarva.

Almeyda already has a career-high 32 RBIs, as he looks to end the year on a good note with Delmarva.

On the pitching side of things, Michael Caldon got it done on the mound.

The 22-year-old righty tossed a five-inning shutout performance, striking out nine batters. This was a season and career-high in strikeouts for Caldon.

A former 18th-round pick, Caldon has put together a fantastic season so far. He carries a 2.18 ERA in 53.1 innings of work and has held batters to a .209 average, has walked 26 and struck out 58.
