According to multiple industry sources, the Baltimore Orioles have claimed right-hander Kyle Tyler off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Oklahoma City native was selected in the 20th round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Oklahoma by the Los Angeles Angels.
Tyler, 28, made his big league debut for the Halos in 2021 and would appear in five games that season, posting an ERA of 2.92 in 12.1 innings pitched. He would only pitch four big league innings the following year.
Last year, pitching for the Miami Marlins, Tyler would appear in eight games (seven starts) in which he pitched to a 5.40 ERA in 31.2 innings. He has not yet appeared in the big leagues in 2025.
Tyler has been assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Welcome to Birdland, Kyle Tyler!
