Another week of Minor League Baseball is complete, and it was another eventful one down on the Baltimore Orioles farm.

Shutdown pitching performances, incredible offensive showings and a very wild walk-off win in Aberdeen made up what was a week to remember to kick off the month of June.

Let’s dive into which O’s top prospects shined this past week.

Triple-A Norfolk: Dylan Beavers – OF / Houston Roth – RHP

Dylan Beavers has returned from the IL as hot as when he went on it.

Beavers is back, collecting at least one hit in seven straight games. He had four multi-hit games against Louisville, going 12-for-23 (.522), with five extra-base hits (one double, two triples and two home runs).

Beavers is hitting .481/.500/.889/1.389 for the month of June and carries an eight-game on-base streak and seven-game hitting streak. On the season, the Cal product is slashing .326/.411/.486/.897 with 57 hits (nine doubles, two triples and five home runs) through 48 games. He has scored 38 runs while driving in 21 and has added 27 walks and 16 stolen bases to his name.

A former 29th-round pick, Houston Roth is turning heads this year as a reliever.

With 34 starts under his belt, Roth is now establishing himself as a strong bullpen piece through 12 games this season. After collecting two saves in the series against the Bats, Roth lowered his ERA to 1.45 on the year.

The 27-year-old righty has given up just three runs across 18.2 innings this season, allowing just one home run. Roth has held opponents to a .237 BABIP and holds a WHIP of 0.96.

Double-A Chesapeake: Frederick Bencosme – INF / Trey Gibson – RHP

It’s really unfortunate that Frederick Bencosme injured himself during the series against Akron because he was looking incredible.

The 22-year-old had a .500 average, hit two home runs, knocked in two RBIs and stole two bases during the three games he was able to play for the week.

Bencosme, a former organizational top prospect, has been struggling this season as a whole. In 46 games, he is slashing .195/.269/.348 with a .617 OPS. The Dominican native has 32 total hits, with six home runs, and has knocked in 15 RBIs.

Trey Gibson, in his Double-A debut, did not disappoint one bit.

The 23-year-old righty pitched six innings of one-hit, one-run baseball on Saturday against the RubberDucks, compiling eight strikeouts in his lone outing.

Gibson has looked solid this season on most occasions. I know a 4.63 ERA in nine starts doesn’t look great, but a .199 opponent average and 17 walks to 75 strikeouts will certainly play.

High-A Aberdeen: Austin Overn – OF / Eccel Correa – RHP

On the mound during this rough series against Hudson Valley, a lot of arms were hit hard. However, 22-year-old Eccel Correa excelled in his third outing at the High-A level.

This time out, Correa notched 6.1 scoreless innings, which is his longest outing of the season at any level. The right-hander allowed just two hits and struck out three. In 13 innings at Aberdeen, Correa has allowed just two earned runs and has given up only one walk.

Offensively, it also wasn’t a great week for the IronBirds. However, Austin Overn showed out once again.

This week, the Southern California native went 6-for-15, including a three-hit game in Sunday’s series finale. He also reached base safely in every game of this series, which included a walk in his one appearance as a pinch hitter on Saturday.

On the season, the 22-year-old outfielder has a .242/.346/.386/.732 slash, with 37 total hits, four home runs and 15 RBIs to his name. He’s also stolen 21 bases in the 47 games played with Aberdeen thus far.

Low-A Delmarva: Luis Guevara – INF / Yeiber Cartaya – RHP

Luis Guevara put up one heck of a week for Delmarva.

In four games, Guevara had a 1.109 OPS and a .538 OBP, as he had five walks this past week. The 19-year-old infielder also didn’t strike out in the series while also collecting an RBI.

Guevara has a .227/.362/.293 slash line and a .655 OPS in 26 games this season. He has only three extra-base hits on the year, 17 total hits, and is showing off his speed by stealing six bases in eight attempts.

As for on the mound, Yeiber Cartaya filled in out of the pen and dominated, earning recognition as Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for his impressive outing in Fredericksburg.

Cartaya pitched 6.1 innings on Friday, giving up two hits, zero earned runs and striking out eight. He would also receive the win.

Cartaya is having a major down year after his dominate 2024 season. He has a 5.23 ERA in 11 games, possessing a control problem, walking 34 batters over 41.1 innings while still having 47 strikeouts on the year. The crazy part is that batters are hitting just .193 against him, and despite giving up 24 earned runs, he has only given up one home run.
