It was a week filled with rain delays and doubleheaders like no other down on the Orioles farm.

With that said, we got to see our second organizational sweep of the year, as many O’s prospects showed out this week.

As always, let’s dive right into our O’s Prospects of the Week as we head towards the end of another month of baseball.

Triple-A Norfolk: Chadwick Tromp – C / Cameron Weston – RHP

When the likes of Adley Rutschman, Samuel Basallo and Maverick Handley are ahead of you, there is a big ladder to climb if you’re a catcher in the Orioles organization.

This week, backstop Chadwick Tromp was the standout Norfolk bat, going a combined 4-for-10 while hitting three home runs, driving in four and scoring three runs.

Tromp is now slashing .254/.338/.413/.751 with a .310 BABIP on the year and is taking advantage of his time while the aforementioned Handley is up with the Birds, giving the organization a peek at another safety net.

For the Tides, pitching has been a roller coaster ride this year, but it appears that it’s starting to turn a corner for the better.

A pitcher who stood out this week was former eighth-round pick,    Cameron Weston, who would pitch a season-high six innings, allowing one run on five hits. Though he tied his season-high with four walks, he did strike out four batters, throwing 92 pitches (53 strikes).

For the year, Weston is 1-2 through 10 games (10 starts) with a 4.26 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.  Across 44.1 innings, he has struck out 48  batters to 22 walks, holding opponents to a .230 batting average.

Double-A Chesapeake: Adam Retzbach – C /Braxton Bragg – RHP

Adam Retzbach was the definition of reliable this past series against Harrisburg.

A .428/.555/.429 slash line is just what you want to see from someone having a fantastic month of May. Retzbach had six hits this series and knocked in four RBIs.

The former Stanford University catcher has really turned his season around. He is hitting .281 with a .855 OPS in 35 games this season with 27 hits, six doubles, three home runs and 19 RBIs on the season.

As for the mound, we will never get sick of bragging about the masterclasses that Braxton Bragg puts on every time out.

Bragg tossed six innings of two-run baseball against Harrisburg while still striking out eight.

The Dallas Baptist alumni has a 1.01 ERA this season in nine games and has given up just five earned runs in 44.2 innings pitched, collecting 61 strikeouts to 15 walks. Batters are hitting just .169 on him.

High-A Aberdeen: Austin Overn – OF / Juan Rojas – LHP

The position player honor for this exciting week of IronBirds baseball is outfielder Austin Overn, who continues to be more consistent and a spark plug at the High-A level.

This week, the O’s No. 30 prospect notched a hit in all five games he appeared in, including a walk-off sacrifice fly on Friday night. This consistency has helped Overn be a jolt for this lineup, as he also walked twice and scored four runs to go along with his four RBIs.

The pitching performance of the week was a tough choice between two guys, but ultimately, we’re giving it to Juan Rojas.

The 21-year-old left-hander started game one of this series, lasting 4.1 innings and allowing just one run. He was coming off the worst start of his season last time out and did a really nice job of bouncing back. His five strikeouts in this outing bring his season total to 25 in 24 innings pitched.

Low-A Delmarva: Raylin Ramos – OF / Chase Allsup – RHP

Outfielder Raylin Ramos posted a 1.125 OPS this past series against Salem and hit .375. He had nine hits, three doubles and one home run while knocking in five RBIs.

Ramos, in his first season with Delmarva, has had a solid start to the season, compiling 35 hits, six doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs in his first two months. The 20-year-old Dominican also has six stolen bases without being caught and has worked 17 walks.

On the mound, Chase Allsup got it done, tossing a five-inning performance, giving up two earned runs, walking two and striking out five.

The former Auburn Tiger has a 1-5 record with a 5.55 ERA in nine starts this season, with only 39 strikeouts in 35.2 innings, with 22 walks and 22 earned runs. Hopefully, this week was a turning point for the right-hander.
