Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals fans will finally get a long-awaited way to watch their favorite team, as Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) will now offer a direct-to-consumer streaming option.

In 2025, most sporting events can be seen on one form or another of streaming services. It gives the team another revenue stream, allows fans to watch their team from just about anywhere and subverts fans from having to dole out extra money to get sports packages to watch their home team.

As a fan, I have first-hand experience with this. The DISH Satellite Company refused to pay for Regional Sports Networks (RSNs), stating the cost would require the pricing to be passed along to the consumer.

When it came to Comcast/Xfinity, to watch the Orioles, you were required to upgrade to the Ultimate Cable Package at a cost of $180 a month, which required a Wi-Fi router, plus taxes and fees. It was becoming more expensive to watch your favorite team than it would to catch a couple of games a month at your team’s stadium.

Mid-Atlantic Sports Network finally took notice that many fans were missing out on games due to costs or timing. With new ownership, and someone who is used to maximizing fan experiences, David Rubenstein knew there had to be a way to bring fans into a bigger part of the fold.

As of April 21, 2025, MASN has done just that. By launching MASN+, fans will be able to watch their favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles or Washington Nationals, from anywhere with their phone, tablet or smart television, with no blackout restrictions.

The service will cost $19.99 a month or $89.99 for the rest of the season. The ability to watch your home team games without spending hundreds of dollars sounds quite inviting.

“Our goal is to connect all fans to the excitement of Orioles and Nationals baseball,” said Greg Bader, MASN’s executive vice president and general manager. “MASN+ allows O’s and Nats fans throughout the Mid-Atlantic, who have elected to cut the cord, to view their favorite team’s games and all that MASN has to offer.”

The new service comes months after the long-standing feud between the Orioles and Nationals was settled over television rights. The organizations were two of the final teams to offer a streaming option for people who do not subscribe to cable.
