We are exactly one week away from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, and the Baltimore Orioles have announced their 2025 non-roster invitees.
The overall biggest name to be invited to camp is catcher and top Orioles prospect Samuel Basallo, who is coming off a phenomenal 2024 season.
Alongside him are catchers Silas Ardoin, who the Orioles drafted in 2021, David Bañuelos, who made his MLB debut with the club last season, and Maverick Handley, who was drafted back in 2019.
The infield invitees are quite interesting.
Nick Gordon is a former Minnesota Twins prospect who spent the 2024 season with the Miami Marlins. Jeremiah Jackson was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Angels, and while he has yet to make his MLB debut, he is still just 24 years old.
Vimael Machín debuted back in 2020 as an Athletic and hasn’t seen the majors since 2022. Terrin Vavra is a former O’s prospect who was signed earlier this week and Liván Soto made some appearances last season for both Cincinnati and Baltimore.
The stars are out for the outfielders, as three prospects from the Orioles’ top 10 list got the call.
Dylan Beavers, Enrique Bradfield Jr. and Jud Fabian are all exciting young players we get to see in just a few weeks.
They will be joined by Jordyn Adams, who spent the 2024 season with the Angels, and Franklin Barreto, who debuted back in 2017 and hasn’t seen the majors since 2020.
As for the pitchers, the big name on the list is right-hander Justin Armbruester, who I believe is really close to being major league ready after his 2024 season in Triple-A Norfolk.
Players like Levi Stoudt and Matt Bowman are guys who have big league experience and are looking for a chance to make the bullpen this season.
